Ethnic Relax Hair Going Natural

In my journey going from relaxed permed hair to natural I am having the hardest time just figuring out what products to start with. I have spent three days going through videos and trying to determine who is giving the best advice or who hair type fits mine. If you are looking for a way to get your ethnic hair in order I advise you to watch the videos on you tube. The ladies have already made all the mistakes so why try to reinvent the wheel. I am going to order heavenly journey products mixed with some ideas from Dprincess28. I spent so far over $50 just getting products to start me out. It seems like it will take about 10 days to get my products from heavenly journey. I read so many great testimonials and feel comfortable ordering the products. I would feel better if there were a money back guarantee considering the cost pretty on the expensive side.

The lady that run the site has pic and videos showing her hair from chop off long and healthy. So the products bought today to get started I will list below. I know I need protein and moisturizer however, you have to switch them up. I am going to do a egg treatment prior to the wash, I could not find any virgin coconut cream to start with. I plan on putting a teaspoon of apple cedar vinegar in my shampoo and I choose Olive Oil Replenishing deep conditioner. I will then do a herb rinse after the deep conditioner. I am concerned about my hair tangling but I will let it partially dry then comb it out an wet it a bit to do my rod set.

Natural Hair Journey

In my quest for natural hair and better, healthier and longer hair I finally left my house to go and buy my products. Unfortunately my local beauty supply shop was closed so I wondered in big lots that was just next door. I managed to pick up a large mirror and a mirror with a stand which will help me when I need to use both of my hands and I can also sit down.

Be prepared to purchase some much needed supplies especially if you don't have a beautician or the one you use does not cater to natural healthy hair. I was also able to pick up some hair ties to replace rubber bands which can break and cut into your hair.

Buying Black Hair Products

I headed over to Walmart to purchase some inexpensive black hair products but when I got their I discovered I had left my list behind. I was able to find some of the products I was looking for but I was not sure so I opted to just wait until tomorrow.

The first thing I have to do is get my hair back to a softer healthy state. So I am trying to decide on the right shampoo and conditioner. What I know so far is that you need protein to strengthen you hair (which is broken down in the relaxing process) and a moisture that not only works on the outside of the head but the inside. So I am looking for products with a lot of natural oils and less commercial as well as inexpensive.

My thoughts is to go cheap to start, however, I don't want to waste money trying different products that does not work. My thoughts is that maybe I can return the products that are no good to the store, hummm, maybe I will check with the store manager to see what is the return policy. I have no problem buying products if I can get a return bottle policy no questions asked.

All Natural Hair Products

I was considering purchasing all natural oils by Chaz Dean "WEN" very expensive $82.00 on QVC sit and over one hundred dollars if you purchase from his store on website, and the amounts are rather small. However, it is all natural and he gives a 30 day guarantee on all his products.

I am also looking at Hair Affinity who sells hair vitamins for faster hair growth for black ethnic hair. Their products are more reasonable and natural as well I think the whole set only cost around $40.00. I will be purchasing the vitamins because of the great client testimonials and I use to take GNC hair, nail and skin vitamins and they worked pretty well.

I would recommended that everyone take a good look at the ingredients in their products and spend a little time to find out what we are putting on our bodies and on our hair. Our bodies are like sponges and what ever we put on our skin goes right into our blood stream.

Okay back to my first natural hair style. I will take Dprincess up on her challenge to stay away from heat for 30 days. Wish me luck.


Wet Roller Set

1. Find safe and effective black hair shampoo and conditioner
2. Find a moisturizer I can apply and leave on my hair every other day
3. Find a light spray natural oil enriched for shine
4. I will try the Isoplus gel to smooth my sides
5. Roller set at least 3 different sizes

My Ethnic Hair Going From Perm to Natural

I watched a lot of you tube videos on ethnic hair going from perm to natural. I have been debating back and forth all day do I really want to go natural or continue breaking my hair down with perm.

Well tomorrow I will go to Sallies and buy a couple of products that will allow me to try some natural styles. I am still learning how to put protein and moisture back into my hair and restore it back to it's original state. I thought it was from just getting old but I think it is more from bad hair care.

I think I will go for a wavy look that seems pretty simple. Just wash and condition hair then add leave in conditioner, part hair two sections above the ear, then twist and pin up. Tie hair with silk scarf and the next morning take down hair and comb out with finders not come. You can use gel for sides.

Keep in mind I just recently had a perm in July this year, and just so happen my niece the perm all the way to the ends. I have a long way to go before I get that total natural look.

I am still debating if I want to buy the expensive good stuff or just try some of the cheaper products that has natural oils in it even though commercial hair products are not the best for your hair.

Ethnic Hair Loss Remedies

Are you to looking to discover what ethnic hair loss remedies really work. I am looking for a way to stop my hair from thinning on the sides. I have tried ethnic hair products and nothing seem to work. I guess I should say I am looking for a way to re-grow my hair on the sides. I am not sure why it is thinning so much considering I am only in my early 40's.

I will chop it up as poor diet, smoking, not enough water or from perms. I have been only perming my hair every 4 to 6 months to slow down the process of thinning hair along with graying. My hair is not thick and healthy as it use to be.

I have been trying some herbal remedies at home to eliminate the commercial store bought products. Last night I wash my hair for the first time with a home remedy formula that I will list below.

My regular shampoo
added 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar to my shampoo

I just washed my hair as normal and all was fine. don't worry about the vinegar smell it was not that bad.

I then conditioned my hair with a home remedy hair conditioner:

Boiled in pot ...

3 Table spoons of rosemary
2 table spoons of basil
2 table spoons of sage

Let cool to room temperature than put into refrigerator until cold. I then just poured the mixture onto my hair messaged it into my scalp and left on for about 5 minutes. You can probably do it longer since it is natural and should not hurt you.

I then let my hair air dry partly and used a blow dryer to finish the drying process. I did rub a gloss or oil product over my hair to help protect my hair from the heat. Since I have permed hair which breaks down the natural strength of the hair it is weaker. I do not comb my hair while it is wet any more because it is tangled and tends to break easily. I assume because of the perm weakening process.

RESULTS:

I noticed that I did not need as much gloss or straightening product in the flat iron process. Normally when I flat iron my hair after blow drying I need gloss on every portion that I flat iron. This time was different my hair was shinny and bouncier and felt a lot healthier.

I did clips my ends just bit. Since I do not have a hair stylist right now and I despise split ends I bought some inexpensive scissors from a beauty supply store for about $25 dollars, but you can use what ever you have. My grandmother use to cut my hair and I know she did not buy any special scissors, granted we did not have perms and flat irons..just an old fashioned straightening comb and ultra sheen grease.

My hair would normally feel dry and brittle and would break easily. I still need to wait a couple of days to see if the condition of my hair remains the same. Meaning I can run my fingers through my hair without it breaking. I have to admit it does feel stronger and I am not sure if it was the process of adding the vinegar to the shampoo or the home remedy conditioner.

My mom told me she heard the the conditional will help grow your hair and keep it healthy. I also read for hair loss you can use rosemary and sage.

I will update this blog on the results of my home conditioner and hair growth. I have just permed my hair in July so I will not do another perm until November or December. If my home remedies can work to soften, moisturize and strengthen my hair who knows maybe if can cut out the perm altogether.

I will wash and condition my own hair and then find a hair dresser that can press and keep the ends clipped for me. If the conditioning process works then my roots should be soft and strong.
